Ink is kind of like a physical representation of thought, with which people can record their ideas for history.
- How is an ink stick made?
In the past, ink producers started by filling a depression with water, and placing a basin full of water and wood oil over it. The oil was lit and the soot collected. Then the soot was mixed together with jelly glue and formed into the proper shape. That's how the ink stick is made. If someone thought the stick was too firm, they would mix the soot with turpentine oil to get softer ink sticks.
