The coming disaster has happened before: Tianmo Ghoul will emerge and exploit the divide between the divine factions. Go find Taisung the Tao to learn more. The Tianmo Ghoul will emerge when Taisung the Tao descends to Mount Jadeon. You'll need to wait for Taisung to appear in Jadeon, first.
