Do you know why I need this Monkey Wine?
- Why?
The bloodforging poison has seeped into my bones by now. Monkey Wine can stall the poison, though even that is just a temporary measure. If Zanis knew that the person he saved at the cost of his own life is now only a good-for-nothing coward, he would be disappointed.
- He is dead?
Dead? His soul is not at rest. He is simply in a stupor caused by the sudden release from his pain.
- What in the world happened?
That day, Zanis and I went to the Cave of Fangs with many fellows of our order. We met with the Bloodsmelt Rogue in the cave's depths. His power was something we could not match. The others of our order fell swiftly before him until only Zanis and I remained breathing.
- And then what?
When the Bloodsmelt Rogue realized we were still alive, he laughed loudly. Then, he cast a soulsnatching spell and forced Zanis' soul into a Bloodforger's body. I thought that such an evil spell would cause Zanis to lose his mind completely. That was not the case. He grappled with the Bloodsmelt Rogue, who was so surprised to see that Zanis' mind was still whole that he didn't even notice my escape. However, I did not escape unscathed. I soon discovered that I was poised by bloodforging. No medicine can cure it.
- Oh, so that's what happened.
After exiting the cave, I hazarded a glance behind and saw Zanis standing at the cave mouth, staring blankly at me. I will never forget that miserable look. If you find Zanis, would you please do something for me?
- All right.
His soul is now in the body of a Bloodforger. He is surely suffering. Please help set his soul free.
