Once you reach level 30, Craftsman Tamasi will give you a quest to teach you how to craft. In order to make gear, you will need the recipe and the materials. The Craftsman will sell low-level recipes and auxiliary materials, but you will need to defeat monsters in order to obtain the rest of the materials as well as the higher-level recipes.

Once you have completed the quest to unlock crafting, you can press "O" to open the crafting interface. Whenever you craft a piece of gear, you will gain crafting experience. When you get enough crafting experience, your crafting level will increase, allowing you to craft higher-level gear.
