When the Northern Alliance attacked ancient Skysong, the War-Wraith General, whose true name is unknown to this day, joined the army to fight against them. The Alliance soldiers towered over the Skysong soldiers, and their fierce face markings unnerved the footmen that had to fight them face-to-face. Seeing the fear that the Alliance soldiers' imposing appearance caused, the General ordered a bronze ghost mask made for him. When he went into battle, he would derange his hair and fight with the mask on. The Alliance soldiers were unnerved by his otherworldly appearance.

The War-Wraith General led his men against the Alliance many times. He fought brutally, always at the front of his troops. He never seemed to be affected by injuries, and shrugged off arrow and blade strikes as if they were annoying itches. He was undefeated in the scores of battles he fought, and the Alliance came to respect him as an immortal. They began to call him the War-Wraith. In some battles, the Alliance actually retreated on the simple rumor that the War-Wraith had arrived on the battlefield.
