May I intervene? (You hear the tree's voice.)
- Can you tell us anything?
Of course! I know all. The former leader of Incense Valley had two apprentices - Shan Guc and Rongbu. They were both in love with the leader's daughter, Kunja. She loved only one, though, and that was Shan Guc. Rongbu was so mad with jealousy that he told the leader of their secret love affair. The leader was disapproving of their relationship. He expelled Shan Guc from the valley and Kunja was eventually forced by her father to marry Rongbu.
- Then?
Kunja was carrying Shan Guc's child when she married Rongbu. She gave birth to a son. He is Wuqi's father, Tienon. Rongbu did not know at the time. After their marriage, the leader of Incense Valley died suddenly. Rongbu, of course, became the new leader.
- Why did Shan Guc return to the valley?
Shan Guc is powerful in spirit, even more so than Rongbu. He earned his reputation in the Southern Border, mainly fighting the Yasho. He knew the secret of Incense Valley. When Rongbu found out about that, he asked Shan Guc to return to the valley, promising Shan Guc his position in exchange for the secret and its success. It requires the Esper, the key to the Infernal Mirror. Shan Guc was thrilled, so he returned to the valley and built the Soulflame Temple, a place he used to meditate.
- Then?
Shan Guc laid low when he returned, but he couldn't forget Kunja; soon they were seeing each other secretly, and soon Rongbu learned of it. Desperate, Kunja called on the Redtail Wanderer tribe of the Fox Clan to attack the Soulflame Temple. She wanted to destroy the secret to the valley and prevent Shan Guc's ambition from taking him away from her. Lord Foxwing might have succeeded. Despite Kunja's pleas to let the Mirror be destroyed and to leave with her, Shan Guc chose his ambition: he activated the Mirror and utterly destroyed the Redtail tribe. Betrayed, Kanju chose suicide over a life without Shan Guc.
- How did Tienon die?
Tienon buried the Jade Case at his mother's grave after he learned the truth. When he tried to talk to Rongbu about it, they fought. That's when Rongbu killed him.
- Oh, what a tragedy! (End dialog)
