One of the major Alliance factions threatened an ancient dynasty, and the Sage-General was sent to deal with them. In the darkness of night, he mounted a charge of 3,000 cavalrymen straight into the enemy camp. The Alliance commander was shocked at his boldness, and ordered a retreat once he realized that his troops, shocked, demoralized, and still reeling from the attack, could not hold their position. The Sage occupied the commander's former position and drove them far away. The defeated commander sent an emissary to the Emperor to negotiate terms of surrender. However, the Sage suspected the overture was a ploy to buy time while the emissary was en route to the capital.

The Sage ordered an immediate attack upon the commander's army. One of his men objected, pointing out that it was customary to cease hostilities while peace overtures were being made. The Sage pointed out that the Alliance had been enemies for far too long for a peace overture to be sincere while their armies were hundreds of thousands of soldiers strong. He took the Alliance army by surprise and wielded his advantage with great skill, personally leading his men into the fray. Within a short time, the enemy casualties numbered in tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands were captured, including the commander himself. The Alliance threat came to an end for many generations.
